The grid community is made up of an increasingly rich
ecosystem of researchers, users, software developers, vendors and
practitioners. Together, we share an interest in accelerating the
adoption of grid and distributed computing-related standards, software
and best practices.

OGF has a rich history of participation from the international research
and IT vendor communities and growing interest from industry. Our
diverse communities include technology innovators at the forefront
of computer and applied sciences. OGF members are developers creating
interoperable software and grid operators responsible for the day-to-day
management of grid solutions. They come from universities, enterprises
and research labs. They tackle problems that enable cost-effective
utilization, lower cost operation and better business processes
within the enterprise. They span large, multi-site grid projects
designed to enable scientific collaboration critical to innovation
and government policy around the world. These practical real-world
users of grid technologies provide the OGF community with a rich
set of use-cases, requirements and best practice
information.
This broad involvement from research, academia, and
industry results in robust requirements leading to well-informed
standards and a growing knowledge base of use cases and best practices.
Together we share a vision of interoperable software implementation
based on industry standards enabling the work of research and industry
users worldwide.
