Standard assessment criteria, such as the RLG/NARA Trusted Repository Audit Checklist, are now available for preservation environments. We will examine how rule-based data grids can be used to validate the assessment criteria. An international collaboration has been put in place combining input from preservation projects in the US (NARA Transcontinental Persistent Archive Prototype) and Europe (CASPAR and SHAMAN). We will focus on the definition of the rules that are needed in distributed data management environments, and the sets of micro-services (encapsulated operations) that should be supported at remote storage locations.
Agenda:
Introduction to rule-based systems (30 minutes)
TRAC assessment criteria (30 minutes)
Impact on data grid design (30 minutes)
Location: Thomas Paine
