Storage management is one of the most important enabling technologies for large-scale scientific investigations. Storage Resource Managers are based on a common specification that emerged over time and evolved into an international collaboration.

We will present and discuss the latest version of the Storage Resource Management (SRM) standard, referred to as version SRM 2.2. We will mention multiple implementations of this standard around the world, and testing programs for their inter-operation.
