The proposed workshop will be organised by the EU funded project EU-IndiaGrid (Joining European and Indian Grids for e-Science Network Community ). The first part of the programme will focus on the Europe and Indian Interoperability, the second part will offer the audience a broader insight into the Grid related initiatives between Europe and Asia
Interoperability and interoperation between major European and Asian Grid infrastructures such as EGEE, CNGrid, GARUDA, NAREGI, is a crucial step towards establishing a cross-continent and even global Grid infrastructure. A series of initiatives have been funded by the European Commission during the 6th and 7th Framework Programmes which helped or will help to pave the way for a global “seamless integration of different Grid infrastructures. In order to achieve this primary goal, strong efforts are needed bilaterally to evolve towards a common standard. This workshop will explore the main milestones achieved by the EU-IndiaGrid project in enabling the integration between the European EGEE and Indian GARUDA Infrastructures and will offer the audience a platform to discuss about still open challenging issues, continuing the discussions which have been raised during the first project conference held in December in Bangalore, India. The second part of the programme will see the audience crossing the Indian geographical borders to focus on other EU-Asian Grid initiatives thanks to the active participation of representatives from TEIN3, EU-ChinaGrid, EchoGRID and EU-AsiaGrid projects. Data management issues will be also covered, with contributions on SRM-SRB interoperability from EU-IndiaGrid project and Academia Sinica Taiwan. The Workshop aims at attracting participants from Europe and other countries interested in the Grid infrastructure interoperability across Europe and Asia. The project will promote the participation at the OGF23 conference and at the workshop itself through the extensive contacts of its consortium partners and its international community of over 500 contacts. In addition, the wider Asian perspective and the possible collaboration elements with Asian partners on middleware interoperability and networking aspects will contribute to the broadening of the potential audience.
