BEinGRID: Successful Stories in Grid I (90 mins)
Damien Hubaux (CETIC)

The BEinGRID philosophy rests in the belief that widespread adoption of Grid computing in a commercial sector can be triggered by a critical mass of successful use cases. In this session, Joan Massó, CEO of GridSystems, will describe the experiences of his firm in providing successful Grid solutions. He will be accompanied by a demonstration from a Grid pilot in the computational fluid dynamics sector that has been developed in BEinGRID.

Agenda:

Joan Massó
CEO, GridSystems

“Fura: Open for Business

Grid Computing, utility models and the cloud are reshaping IT in the the 21st century. Joan Massó will outline the fundamental drivers of this change and argue about the best technology and business models to achieve it. Some successful examples with Fura will be detailed.

BEinGRID Case Study
LIVE DEMO

"Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)"

This demonstration showcases the work of computer-aided engineering SME Icon, and NTUA (National Technical University of Athens), who have modified an open-source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to run on a Grid. This results in a superior and more cost effective level of modeling. The live demo shows how they used this to optimize air-flows in actual commercial use cases at a level unachievable without this technology. This work potentially opens the door for SME companies in this sector to overcome resources constraints in order to carry out complex modeling at a similar level to the larger market players.
