BEinGRID: Successful Stories in Grid II (90 mins)
Damien Hubaux (CETIC)

When firms can point to peers, collaborators or competitors in their economic sector and identify the benefits that Grid technology has brought to them, further adoption cannot be far behind. BEinGRID is catalysing this process by carrying out 25 pilot implementations across various sectors. In this session Grid expert and Univa founder Carl Kesselman will discuss successful cases of Grid adoption from the US. He will be accompanied by a Grid pilot from the chemical engineering section, carried out in the scope of BEinGRID, and Jim Austin, CEO of Cybula Ltd, who will discuss his success providing a Grid application.

Agenda:

Carl Kesselman
Director, Center of Grid Technologies, University of Southern California

Carl Kesselman will discuss existing and successful stories about commercial Grid adoption in the US. Delivering specific examples and an overall picture from a commercial perspective of the current US status, comparisons and similarities with EU will be made.

BEinGRID Case Study
LIVE DEMO

"New Product & Process Development"

This case study and demonstration addresses the creation of an integrated environment required to develop new products and processes in the chemical engineering sector. This implies the parallel execution and coordination of multiple of heterogeneous and widely distributed resources (databases, computer models, property and cost data, technical reports, and images) achieved by the combination of two outstanding grid tools: GRID superscalar and GridWay.
