BEinGRID: Case Study Demos (Engineering and Business Processes in Metal Forming / Distributed Online Gaming)
(90 mins)
BEinGRID Case Study LIVE DEMO:
Engineering and Business Processes in Metal Forming
The automotive component industry faces constantly growing pressure to compete in a globalized market. The customers demand increasing complexity, shorter development times-and cost-reduction during the production process. This business environment requires new technologies to compete. This business experiment will provide such technologies especially to SMEs in the automotive component industry, because they are not able to afford or operate such highly specialized hard- and software systems. The provided technologies incorporate software systems for virtual prototyping in sheet metal forming (e.g. numerical simulations for deep drawing or kinematics simulations). The grid computing paradigm allows the on-demand utilization of computing resources to perform time-consuming calculations while letting the end user concentrate on the core competencies.
BEinGRID Case Study LIVE DEMO:
Distributed Online Gaming
This business experiment will utilize recent advances in the area of Grid Computing paradigm, in order to build and assess a distributed application hosting environment that enables network-centric Application Service Providers to rapidly deploy and manage their services in a secure and accountable way and in compliance to explicit agreements and policies. We expect the result of the pilot to be of general use across multiple application areas. However, internet-based interactive gaming has been chosen as the targeted application area. This choice comes in recognition of the increasing relevance of Grid computing as an infrastructure for enabling high-performance interactive, multi-player games.
