BEinGRID: Case Study Demos (Computational Fluid Dynamics / Retail Management)
(90 mins)
BEinGRID Case Study LIVE DEMO:
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has reached high levels of acceptance in industry as a valid design tool thanks to the introduction of new software, the improvement of existing software and the rapid development in hardware. The significant demand of computational resources in the CFD application area and the increasing interest from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to combine CFD and advanced optimization techniques at various design stages forced the introduction of Grid technologies to the CFD application process. The “gridification of the current CFD techniques will allow the end-user to reduce the cost and extend their computational as well as their business capabilities.
BEinGRID Case Study LIVE DEMO:
Retail Management
The motivation driving this business experiment is the need for more efficient platforms in the Industry & Retail services, specifically aimed at SMEs. Current platforms are too expensive for end-users to deploy and too difficult for service providers to maintain. In addition, I&R solution developers (mid-users in the GRID value chain) are finding it difficult to meet the increasing performance demands with solutions based on traditional centralized architectures. GRID-based architectures could be the ideal solution to overcome these technical and business hurdles. End users would relieved from the need to invest in infrastructure, while preserving - if not improving - system performance. Solutions providers would be freed from code optimization details, allowing them to concentrate on the value-added aspects of their applications and on the interoperability, maintainability and re-usability features of the code.
