Grid-Enabled Geospatial Systems
(90 mins)

This session will describe the collaboration between the
Open Grid Forum and the Open Geospatial Consortium to
produce grid-enabled, standard geospatial tools.
It has been estimated that 80 to 90% of all data is geospatially related. With the growing interconnectedness of
information systems of all kinds, including in-situ sensor networks, there is tremendous applicability to integrating geospatial data and systems over distributed environments, i.e., grids. In this session, we will introduce basic OGC standards, such as WMS, WFS, WCS, CSW, WPS, and SWE. We will also describe relevant OGF standards, such as HPC Basic Profile, SAGA, GridRPC, WS-DAI*, and INFOD. The current
OGC Web Services Testbed (OWS-6) will be presented, which
calls out OGF and specific grid concepts in the Geoprocessing Workflow subtask.
