This session is intended to be a venue for presentation and discussion of challenges organizations face, and best practices they adopt in building enterprise grids.
The objective is to share these challenges and best practices to identify potential areas for OGF standards activity.
OGF enterprise best practices are industry-proven solutions, techniques, processes or methodologies related to the use of Grid technology, and have known results or success in solving real business problems in finance, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and other industry segments. It is assumed that there are many enterprises which can benefit from these Grid best practices, but these enterprises may not necessarily be "plugged-into" the Grid community yet.
The purpose of this BOF is to identify candidate best practices and then discuss how to priority-rank the candidates. Some potential best practice candidates might be:
Determining application suitability for Grid environments
Porting applications for Grid environments
Using Grid technology in financial services
Increasing infrastructure utilization with Grid technology
The expected result of the BOF is to identify at least one high priority best practice topic area and then develop a plan for capturing this best practice and promoting its use. Software developers, end-users and vendors are encouraged to contribute their ideas, and to help make an impact on the Grid community though this best practice effort. The candidate list of best practices will be used to spawn best practice workshops at future OGF events.
