(90 mins)
Malcolm Atkinson

e-Infrastructure Education and Training is closely influenced by national and international policies as it moves into the academic mainstream and is tied to production infrastructures. The future shape of e-Infrastructure development is therefore intimately tied to the creation of policies in this area.
There is the currently opportunity to influence the submissions to some of the groups creating the recommendations on which these policies will be based.
Outcome of this session will be a draft submission on e-Infrastructure policies for Education and Training.

The e-IRG (e-Infrastructures Reflection Group) is leading the development of policy recommendations to the European Commission on a variety of aspects of e-Infrastructures. One important strand is the development of policy on Education and Training relating to e-Infrastructures. There is an opportunity to influence the shape and content of the draft policy documents to be submitted to this group. The proposed sessions would allow the shaping of content to be proposed for inclusion in these documents.
Similarly, experience in this area in the USA can be captured in the second session and both of these can be used to steer the development of the ET-CG wiki content to provide a community resource in support of these activities.
Outcome of this session will be a draft submission on e-Infrastructure policies for Education and Training.
