Kansas, Elizabeth City State and Indiana University are collaborating on a new Cyberinfrastructure (Grid) activity termed Polar Grid. This supports real time analysis of data from polar expeditions as well as large scale simmulation of ice sheets.
This new grid is proposed to support urgent studies of glaciers that are changing (melting) at an increased rate. We will discuss what technologies and architectures support this mix of remote instruments as well as large scale education and research supercomputers.
