Trusted Computing Research Group (TC-RG)
Group Information
Group Type: Research Group
Group Chair(s): Andrew Martin, Wenbo Mao

Group Description
New technologies are enabling substantial improvements platform security and in the ability to gain an assurance about the software environment running on a remote host. This group is discussing how to exploit these in a Grid context, and prototyping some of the most well-developed ideas.

Group Focus and Scope
The Trusted Computing (TC) initiative developed by Trusted Computing Group (TCG) represents a major shift in the design of computing hardware, offering substantial benefits in host identity, secure storage, and software integrity measurement. Many of the descriptions of this technology envisage applications in distributed computing, but the work necessary to achieve them largely remains to be done. The purpose of this research group is to evaluate how the capabilities of TC can be used in a grid context.

Under its present charter, the group is developing designs and prototype software to exploit currently-deployed TC technology, and a use case document to consider a range of ways in which TC can be used in the future in a grid context.
