GGF groups experiencing unprecedented productivity
With three recent additions to the growing GGF Document
Series and over ten more currently in public comment,
GGF is experiencing a record-breaking year for producing
high-quality grid specifications and informational documents.
GFD.53 entitled "Defining the Grid: A Roadmap for OGSA™
Standards v 1.0" is a highly informative document that
answers a number of questions about the role and future of
Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) both within GGF and
in the broader distributed computing industry. The authors
for the OGSA Roadmap are H. Kishimoto and J. Treadwell.
GFD.52 entitled "A GridRPC Model and API for End-User
Applications" provides a model and API for Grid Remote
Procedure Call (GridRPC). This API is intended primarily
for end-user applications and not grid middleware. Authors
of GFD.52 include H. Nakada, S. Matsuoka, K. Seymour,
J. Dongarra, C. Lee, and H. Casanova.
Finally, GFD.51 entitled "Configuration Description,
Deployment, and Lifecycle Management (CDDLM) SmartFrog-Based
Language Specification" is one of five documents to be
produced by the CDDLM-WG. This document, authored by
P. Goldsack, provides a definition of the CDDLM language that
is based on SmartFrog (Smart Framework for Object Groups)
and its requirements.
These and the entire GGF Document Series may be found here.
In addition to the three recently published documents, eight
different GGF groups have submitted over ten draft documents
which are in public comment period. The GGF community and
interested parties outside of GGF are encouraged to read
and comment on any of these documents at the public
comment page.
