Subject: Grid Job
Date: Thu, 24 Oct 2002 14:09:55 -0700
Following the discussions within the GGF Grid Computing Environments
Research Group (gce-rg) at GGF3, GGF4, and GGF5 that revealed a need for
introducing a concept of a grid job. The attached draft document (which is
an invitation for a discussion at this point) summarizes
the outcome of the discussions.
At this early stage it would be premature to attempt to propose any specific
metadata schema that would serve as an official recommendation (this may
happen later). Instead, this documents discusses a possible use case of the
grid job concept from which semantics and requirements of the grid job
descriptor can be derived. A possible outcome of this is a taxonomy that can
be used to analyze metadata systems developed by various groups, including
Mississippi Computational Web Portal, Gateway System, UNICORE, Grid Lab,
e-Science projects, and this list is certainly not complete.
I am looking for a feedback form the community and people interested in this
topics to help me continue this effort. I think, this is potentially
relevant for groups operating in Application and Programming Environments as
well as Scheduling and Resource Management areas.
Thanks,
Tomasz Haupt
