[cgs-wg] CIM demo (at WG session)
There has been some offline communication between
a few of the CGS-WG members regarding preparation
for a CIM demo at GGF7. We are suggesting a 15-
to 20-minute timeslot during a CGS-WG session to
demo the following:
And, by the way, if anyone in the CGS-WG is
(or knows of anyone who will be at GGF7 and is)
in a position to show a CIMOM and browser with
more functionality than what is proposed here
with the SNIA CIMOM and browser, by all means
let us hear from you.
Rough outline of demo -- subject to modification:
- Explain that the SNIA CIMOM and Browser
have already been loaded on the system.
This is not to be a detail-oriented demo.
- Bring up the CIM Browser and load a MOF,
such as the one for Cluster or Linux_base
or Linux_Service (eventually can add them
all) and show how the MOF is translated
to the browser and how much information
- From the browser, stop a process on the
system, and then restart it from the browser.
- Subscribe to an event (a process going down)
and provide a pop-up window as notification
of the event, manually kill the selected process,
and expect the pop-up window.
- Subscribe to the same event and automate a
restart of the process, asking for the original
notification as well as a confirming pop-up
window when the process has been automatically
This should provide enough 'show' . . . the goal
being to demonstrate not only functionality but
where the CIMOM and browser are today in their
development, what this means, and what remains
to be done for compatability with the OGSA.
Viktor and I will work on this demo, and either
Larry or I will give the demo at GGF7. However,
again I say that if anyone else has any other
ideas or can contribute in any way, or if there
is a CIMOM and browser that can be demonstrated
other than this SNIA CIMOM and browser that can
provide us with more functionality and/or a better
demo, please let us know. This is for educational
purposes, not competition between browsers.
