[SEM-GRD] dfdl

Hello,

At GGF I made contact with the "Data Format Description Language" working
group (DFDL, pronounced "Daffodil"). I'd become aware of this activity
before so this was a good opportunity to find out more and talk with the
chair (Martin Westhead).

This group is concerned with describing the structure of binary and
character files/datastreams. I note the milestones include several
ontologies:

   ...
3. Requirements for DFDL ontology - what features are required of a DFDL ontology
4. Basic types ontology (floating point, integer, character etc.)
5, Basic structures ontology (Strings, arrays, tables etc.).

I encourage people to take a look at the DFDL web site

	http://www.epcc.ed.ac.uk/dfdl/

and I'd be interested to know what people on this list think about this
activity and how we might best engage with it.

Thanks
