[SEM-GRD] Announcing GGF9 Semantic Grid Workshop

Hello everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that we've just had approval for our Semantic
Grid workshop at GGF9 in Chicago. It will be on Sunday 5th October from
2pm to 7.30pm - the first day of the GGF event.

I hereby invite presentations for the workshop. Please mail me if you
are able to come along and speak - either a full length presentation or
a short position paper. We'd be very pleased to hear about new work but
equally we'd like to hear again from those who spoke at GGF7 in Tokyo
at the beginning of the year, for an update on their work.

If you don't want to speak, please come along and participate anyway.
I think it will be interesting to see how people are getting on - it's
a year since we launched this activity. I wonder - what are the problems
people are hitting now that they are trying to make the vision a reality?
Come along to the workshop and share your experience and views!

BTW Anyone registered for GGF can attend the workshop at no extra charge.

Please note that this time we're after short papers in addition to the
presentations. The papers will be collected together into a workshop
proceedings to form a GGF "informational document", which is an important
part of our work as the GGF Semantic Grid Research Group. More about
format etc in due course (this will be a publically available document
that can be cited).

As we have control over our workshop format, would anyone be interested in
a panel session? If so, what question would you like a panel to address?
Suggestions welcome! Other ideas for the workshop also welcome (it would
be good to use the flexibility and not simply have "death by powerpoint"!)
Comments to the list please so that we can have a community view on this.

BTW In GGF terms the format of the workshop is "invited presentations" as
opposed to a "mini-symposium" i.e. there is not a review process per se.
However, we have proposed the mini-symposium format for the GGF in Hawaii.

I'm on leave at the moment but wanted to get this mail out to give people
a chance to plan their travel etc, especially as the August 15 early bird
registration deadline is approaching. But I will be going offline for a
few days at the end of this week. When I'm back I'll do the workshop Web
page on the www.semgrid.org site.

So, please mail me if you are able to speak at the workshop, and I look
forward to seeing you in Chicago.

Many thanks

Regards

-- Dave
