[SEM-GRD] Semantic Grid workshop at GGF9

Hello,

The schedule for the GGF9 Semantic Grid Workshop is on

	http://www.semanticgrid.org/GGF/ggf9agenda.html

After a few changes last week (largely to deal with the coffee breaks...)
it appears to be stable. Text version below.

Note the discussion towards the end of the day. We're trying to take
advantage of the workshop format and not simply have an afternoon of talks
(and we also intend that the discussion should be fun!) This is in two
parts:

- first the "roadmap discussion" where we will figure out what semantic
grid challenges can be achieved now, for those that can't, how long till
they can. Useful for practitioners and researchers alike! In prep for
this, could attendees please think about some challenges?

- secondly, the "primer discussion" where we look at what *can* be
achieved now and figure out how best to disseminate this to the grid
community in the form of a primer/tutorial. This is important business
for the Research group as the primer is one of our milestones.

See you in Chicago

GGF Semantic Grid Research Group (SEM-GRD) Semantic Grid Workshop at GGF9

The Semantic Grid Workshop will be held at the Ninth Global Grid Forum on
Sunday 5 October, 2003, 2pm - 7:30pm, Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers,
Chicago IL, USA.

Co-Chairs: David De Roure, Carole Goble and Geoffrey Fox

This workshop, which is an activity of the GGF Semantic Grid Research
Group, is an opportunity for Semantic Grid practitioners to present
their latest work in the Semantic Grid area, i.e. Grid projects using
Semantic Web technologies. The workshop is also aimed at would-be
practitioners who wish to see the state of play and current practice
in this field, and is open to anyone registered for GGF.

Here is the list of the topics of the invited talks. Final titles and
abstracts are being made available online.

2.00pm Introduction - David De Roure
2.10pm The Role of Concepts in myGrid - Carole Goble
2.35pm AI planning and knowledge-based approaches to workflow
             - Jim Blythe
      3.00pm Coffee
3.15pm Semantic support for Grid-Enabled Design Search in
             Engineering - Simon Cox

             David De Roure

Presentations will be accompanied by written papers and these will be
combined into an informational document for GGF.

The workshop includes a discussion on the Semantic Grid roadmap, where
we will put various Semantic Grid challenges (proposed by workshop
participants) onto a timeline. The goal is to show practitioners what
can (and can't!) be done now and to set a research agenda for researchers.
Based on this we will then discuss the Semantic Grid primer.
