ICWS'2004 Call for Papers
The 2004 IEEE International Conference on Web Services (ICWS'2004) is the
THIRD international conference focusing on Web Services. ICWS is a forum
for researchers and industry practioner to exchange information regarding
advancements in the state of the art and practice of Web Services, as well
as to identify the emerging research topics and define the future of Web
Services computing.
Web services are network-based application components with
services-oriented architecture using standard interface description
languages and uniform communication protocols. Typical industry solution
areas of Web services are business-to-business integration, business
process integration and management, content management, e-sourcing,
composite Web services creation, design collaboration for computer
engineering, multimedia communication, digital TV, and interactive Web
solutions. Currently, Grid computing has also started to leverage Web
services to define standard interfaces for business services and generic
reusable Grid resources.
As the first academic conference in the field of Web services, the 2003
First International Conference on Web Services (ICWS'03) was held at the
Monte Carlo Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 23 - 26, 2003. Attracting
hundreds of participants from 25 countries (USA, India, France, China,
Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, Canada, UK, Sweden, Switzerland,
The Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Italy, Korea, Thailand, Finland, Austria,
New Zealand, Poland, and Turkey). The second one is 2003 International
Conference on Web Services - Euprope (ICWS-Europe.03), held in Erfurt,
Germany, 2003-09-23 and 2003-09-24. ICWS'03 and ICWS-Europe'03 have proven
to be an excellent catalyst for research and collaboration, and we fully
expect that this ICWS 2004 conference will continue this trend.
The program of ICWS'04 will continue to feature a variety of papers,
focusing on topics ranging from Web Services and Dynamic Business Process
Composition, Web Services and Process Management, Web Services Discovery,
Web Services Security, Web Services Based Applications for e-Commerce, Web
Services based Grid Computing, Web Services Standards and Technologies,
Web Services Solutions, Web Services Industrial, and other emerging
technologies or solutions.
You are invited to submit a draft paper (about 8 pages) in IEEE style. All
accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings in
hardcopy and on-line version by IEEE Computer Society. The enhanced
version of the best papers presented at ICWS'2004 will be selected and
published in the International Journal of Web Services Research (JWSR)
published by Idea Group and other journals.
SCOPE: Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
Mathematical Foundations of Web Services
Web Services Identification, Modeling & Design
Web Services discovery & Selection
Semantic Web and Web Services
Web Services Composition & Workflow Design
Enabling Technology & Standards (SOAP, UDDI)
Web Services security
Resource management & Performance of web service
Issues related to Quality and Trust
Software and Tools for Web Services
WirelessWeb and Web Services
Solution Management for Web Services
Web Services based Electronic Commerce
Adoption of Web Services by organizations
Case studies on Web Services based applications

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS:
Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers that
are not being considered in another forum. Manuscripts will be limited to
8 (IEEE style) pages and be printed on 10 or 12 size font. Electronic
submission of manuscripts (in PDF or Word formats) is required. Detailed
Instructions for electronic paper submission, panel proposals, tutorial
proposals, and review process can be found at
http://conferences.computer.org/icws/2004/. At least one author of each
accepted paper is required to attend the conference and present the paper.
EVALUATION PROCESS:
Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, and
soundness. Each paper will be refereed by at least three researchers in
the topical area.
BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARDS:
3-5 Best Student Paper Awards will be presented by ICWS'2004. The first
authors of the best student papers should be full-time students.
